The Invisible Threat and It’s True. These are the titles of the two documentaries of the team of the Roma World – 21st Century Foundation, led by the TV journalist Kremena Budinova, feature the changes in the perception of COVID-19 in Roma communities from spring to autumn 2020.
With the support of the Project Generation Facility, the production of the two movies was endorsed with funding from the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation, established within the German Marshall Fund of the United States. The documentaries have already been presented to the audience of the Bulgarian National Television in the program “Little Stories”.
While at the beginning of the pandemic the questions of whether COVID-19 is a myth or a reality prevail, as well as fears of the “Invisible Threat”, in the late autumn of 2020 there is no doubt – “It’s true” – and so the reality of the pandemic is already realized and painfully affects Roma communities, as well as the whole society.
You can watch the documentaries on the Youtube channel of the foundation – HERE и HERE. At the end of 2020, the German Marshall Fund launched a new program aimed at increasing the capacity of NGOs and the media to counter the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of society, free media and the rule of law in Bulgaria – more for the program with a deadline of January 10, 2021 you can find HERE.
